18th-century canal-side hotel in Venice
History & Architecture
Locanda Cà Del Console was originally a consul's private residence and dates back to the 18th century. The building sits directly on a typical Venetian canal, 300 metres from the church of San Zanipolo. Rooms are decorated with original frescoes and antique furnishings, reflecting the property's historical character.
Accommodations
All rooms include air conditioning, a private bathroom, and a flat-screen TV. Select rooms offer direct views of the canal and feature high ceilings with period details. The hotel provides daily housekeeping and a safety deposit box in each room.
Location
The hotel is situated between Saint Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, both reachable in less than a 10-minute walk. Guests can walk to the Campo Santa Maria Formosa, a lively square with cafes and restaurants, in 2 minutes. The nearby Ospedale vaporetto stop provides water-bus connections from the airport.
Services
The family-run staff offers personalised local dining recommendations and provides maps and tourist advice at reception. Complimentary transport assistance is available for arranging water taxis and gondola tours. Guests can request a private boat tour of the canals led by the owner's son, Alvise.
Common Areas
The ground-floor lounge opens directly onto the canal, with seating where guests watch gondolas pass by. An outdoor garden courtyard serves morning espresso and croissants. The on-site bar/lounge offers wine and champagne in the evenings, with the canal as a backdrop.
