Good stay near Botanic gardens

great location independent shops convenient bus nearby subway
The location was indeed spot on for visiting the University (i walked there easily). Lots of independent shops were nearby. The hotel was also on a main bus route. The subway stop was just a short walk away. Really convenient.
My room was quite basic. It needed a little maintenance. Specifically, the window would not stay open.
Service
8/10
The staff were helpful but you have to ask (something i always do). They met my requests, like to show me how to open the window. they changed the towels for me.
Facilities
9/10
The breakfast buffet was good with a full Scottish option (i loved it!). The room was clean, quiet and very warm. My bathroom was also spacious, what's not to like?!

Basic Room Experience. Some Issues

clogged shower drain inadequate soundproofing
The room I got was not great. The shower drain was clogged with hair. This meant the shower filled with water quickly. the bed felt hard, and the pillows were flat. It was hard to sleep well because of noise problems. The soundproofing was not adequate even after asking for a quiet room.

i found the hotel situated close to the botanic gardens and a street full of diverse restaurants, a convenient store across the street was a plus. a bus stop in front provided easy access. the subway station was within reasonable distance, about a ten-minute walk.
the absence of an elevator posed a slight inconvenience, particularly when i had to manage luggage to my room.

The area presented many options for dining. Various restaurants and cafes were within easy walking distance, so i could enjoy different cuisines. a nearby supermarket gave me options for snacks. i did not try breakfast at the hotel.

the location was great for exploring. it was near dining options and public transportation. our room had a reading nook with a sofa under the windows.
the bathroom door stuck when closed. it had to be pushed open from the other side. mould was visible in the bathroom. i could hear the tv and conversation in the next room.
