What Previous Guests Had to Say
Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Sherwood Queenstown is often praised for its unique vibe and spacious rooms, located within a comfortable walking distance or a short bus ride to town. Guests appreciate the restaurant, finding the seasonal meals and fresh local ingredients particularly enjoyable, sometimes even preferring it to other waterfront options. Many found the rooms comfortable and clean, some with a mini-kitchen, which was great to solve vegetable intake issues and a fridge to store lots of food, while others noted that the mountain view rooms can feel small and dark, with limited privacy when curtains are open. The availability of free on-site parking and amenities like the sauna and yoga classes are also commonly highlighted.

amazing restaurantstrange smellthin walls
the restaurant was amazing, and breakfasts were consistently good.
the room had a strange smell that just would not disappear, even i opened windows. thin walls meant i could hear other guests at night and it was not a peaceful stay as i expected. the old shower and bath combo was not good, and the temperature was either too hot or too cold, no middle ground.

Solid Stay with Great Restaurant

clean roomcomfortable bedtechnology-free environmentcalming aura
I found the rooms very comfy and tidy. The beds had fresh linen. I liked the absence of a television as it promoted a technology-free environment. an iPad or projector was available upon request. The radio played soft music in the master bedroom, and I found the aura calming. I enjoyed playing table tennis with the kids.
The lighting felt poor. The rooms seemed dark, and our room had a cold metal table and bench seat. It didn't match the photos.
Service

The staff demonstrated a friendly and helpful attitude. They were always available for any assistance I required. This contributed to a positive experience , greatly appreciated.
Facilities
8/10
The hotel provides a yoga studio. I noticed they use locally grown food in the restaurant, so eco-friendly practices are present. A free sauna is available, and guests can book a session . This enhances relaxation.
Rooms

The room I stayed in was spacious and tastefully designed. It had good, clean facilities. I liked the provided coffee and plunger. The space was also quite comfortable.

the restaurant offered such delicious meals (especially the lamb!). the on-site sauna was free and provided great relaxation after a long day.
the room lacked sufficient soundproofing, so noise from neighboring rooms was noticeable.

Eco-Friendly Retreat, A Stay to Remember

delicious mealswarm servicepractical design
The restaurant impressed me with delicious meals, and I noticed the staff provided warm service. The room design was practical, I found it provided comfort. The hill's view became a lovely experience, and the eco-friendly concept deepen my awareness.
The lighting in the rooms needs improvement. I found it a bit dim.
Facilities
9/10
The hotel features a sauna for relaxation. I observed that there are eco-bikes available . The shared spaces included comfortable seating arrangements, and a kids play area present.
Rooms
8/10
My room included natural textiles. I also noticed a lack of television, promoting a super calm place. The bathroom came with shower wash, with lotion provided. The bed sat lower, but it was surprisingly comfortable.

the staff were friendly. they seemed pretty helpful.
My room was not really like the pictures shown online, a definite letdown. the bathroom lacked an extraction fan, so it got quite stuffy. the parking situation was a mess. Disorganized is an understatement. i paid almost $300 for one night and essentially got a basic room without any frills such as room service or proper ventilation.
